  • Original or Certified copy of the Minutes of Resolution of members of the group authorising particular individuals to open and/or operate an account on behalf of the group; or
  • Original or Certified copy of the Information provided by ASIC or the State/Territory body responsible for the incorporation of the Association; or
  • Original or Certified copy or Extract of the constitution or rules of the Association

Unincorporated Associations

  • Original or Certified copy of the Minutes of Resolution of members of the group authorising particular individuals to open and/or operate an account on behalf of the group; or
  • Original or Certified copy the Minutes of the Meeting of the Association; or
  • Original or Certified copy or Extract of the constitution or rules of the Association.

What is a sole trader?

Sole trader businesses are owned by one individual who is the sole owner of the business. Sole traders can employ staff. They’re responsible for all decisions in the business.

What is a partnership?

A partnership is a business structure in which two or more legal entities (individuals or companies) manage and operate the business. All owners are equally and personally liable for the debts from the business.

What’s a joint ownership?

A joint ownership is an agreement between two people that is not legally binding and not required to be documented in writing and not registered with ASIC.

What’s a partnership between two individuals?

Where two individuals carry on a business together and share the profits and losses. The Partnership is registered with an ABN. 

A partnership between individual(s) and company(ies)

Where two or more entities (Individuals and Companies) carry on a business together and share in the profits and losses. The Partnership is registered with an ABN.

What is a Domestic Company?

A Domestic Company that is registered under the Corporations Act (other than a foreign owned Company that is registered with ASIC). Examples of this Customer type are Australian Proprietary Companies (e.g., “ABC Pty Ltd”), Australian Public and listed Companies (e.g., “XYZ Ltd” or “XYZ Limited”) and Australian companies limited by guarantee. All Companies registered with ASIC are issued with a unique 9-digit number - Australian Company Number (ACN).

What is a Beneficial Owner?

A Beneficial Owner is an individual who ultimately owns (directly or indirectly) 25% or more of the Customer, or controls (directly or indirectly) the Customer. ‘Control’ includes control as a result of, or by means of, trusts, agreements, arrangements, understandings and practices, whether or not having legal or equitable force and whether or not based on legal or equitable rights and includes exercising control through the capacity to determine decisions about financial and operating policies.

What is a trust?

In a trust, the business and assets are managed by a trustee for the benefit of others (the beneficiaries). A Trustee is a legal entity and can enter into contracts and hold and acquire property.

Examples of this Customer type can include the individual Trustee of a family Trust, a Company that is a  Trustee of a unit Trust or a Superannuation Trustee.

What is an association?

  • An Incorporated Association is a legal entity separate from its individual members, and is incorporated under the state or territory legislation in which it operates (e.g., “ABC Football Club Incorporated”). 
  • An Unincorporated Associations is not recognised as a separate legal entity to the members associated with it. It is a group of people who agree to act together as an organisation and form an association, e.g., a voluntary group, body corporate or a sports group.

What is a registered co-operative?

  • A registered co-operative is a legal entity set up to serve the interests of its members. Co-operatives may operate as for-profit organisations operating on their members’ behalf or as not-for-profit organisations.
  • A Registered co-operative may be formed to provide goods or services to its members or to supply goods or services to the public, such as: primary production, manufacturing, trading, community, or social activity.

Carbon Neutral Certification

In Australia, carbon neutral certification is governed by Climate Active. For an entity to be certified as carbon neutral, it must meet the requirements of the Climate Active Carbon Neutral Standard. This means that to achieve certification an entity must measure emissions, reduce these where possible, offset remaining emissions and then publicly report on its achievements. 

Carbon neutral claims must be independently validated by an independent third party.
